Google Maps ranking checklist for local businesses
When someone searches 'near me', Google Maps shows three businesses first. Those three get most of the calls. This checklist covers what you control.
Complete your Google Business Profile
- Choose the most accurate primary category, then add secondary ones.
- Add opening hours, holiday hours, phone, WhatsApp and website.
- Write a clear description with your main services and area.
- Add real photos of your place, team and work, and keep adding new ones.
Get reviews steadily
A steady flow of genuine reviews matters more than a burst. Share a direct review link after every visit or order, and reply to every review, good or bad, politely and quickly.
Keep your details consistent
Your name, address and phone number should match exactly on your website, Google profile, social pages and directories.
Make your website local
Mention your area and services clearly on your website, add a map and make it easy to call or WhatsApp from a phone. If you serve several areas, create a helpful page for each one.
Post updates every week
Google Business Profile posts for offers, events and new work show that you're active. They take five minutes and keep your listing fresh.
